A grid’s cells stated one at a time, for a grid whose cells differ — a first cell showing the bare mesh the rest are maps on, or a row pairing two kinds. Each is merged over cell:, and carries its own layers. Mutually exclusive with layers:, which is the compact form of the same thing.
